I was born and spent my childhood in the North of Ireland, but after A levels, I moved to England to study Astrophysics at the University of Leicester. Over the last four decades, I have lived mostly in London, where I enjoyed a successful career in teaching (Mathematics). During this period, I developed an enduring fascination with Painting and with the History of Art, the former becoming increasingly central to what I wanted to pursue in my life. Some examples of my earlier work can be found on this site in Archive 1.
In 2011, I finally stopped teaching and moved to the west of England in order to paint full time. Since then, I have been developing my practical skills along with my knowledge of Art History, both of which I regard as equally essential in my work. I have recorded images of this work in Archive 2.
Over the last few years, I have had work accepted into open exhibitions including the RWA in Bristol, and have sold work to individual clients.
